Languages
I just had a group of Swedish school kids check in, and at most they are 14 (Stealth thread when bluetooth is working lads) and they all speak English better than me
Why do you think it is that kids these days speak multiple languages, where the majority of English kids the same age are still learning to use full words rather than text speak?
Imagine if Germany won the war, most of the country would still be learning "Guten tag mein fuhrer"
So whats the theories on this bad boy? Any multi lingual people on here (other than Zanza, the swot he is!!!)
I think it comes downto attitude, we think the whole word speaks English or should and therefore dont bother, ,
we are so far behind. My mate who is married to a Norwegian and her English is great.Their son who is 9 can hold a conversation no probs.Ucci speaks English as do the rest of the family.
Hmm Sweden (Scandinavia in general really) is a good example yea. They learn English from a young age just like here in the Netherlands. When I stayed in Bournemouth last year I met maybe 100 foreign people. The majority was French, and their English sucks. The Italians and Spanish werent too good either. When I had discussions with them about the su

ect (usually very sloooow english lol) I noticed a big main difference. Here in Holland (but also Scandinavia) our movies arent being translated into Dutch, but we just get simple subtitles. In Germany they watch a James Bond movie with German voices. Same in France, Spain and I bet many other places.
so to cut it short, the 2 Swedes have been learning English in school, but not spoken it on the streets. I think it happens everywhere, on the streets of your own country the language isnt any how it should sound. No correct grammer. But as the scandinavians are exposed to correct English at school , movies from Disney etc they pick up the language in a very proffesional way.
I agree. As they say in Sweden hej doh
