Lille coach Claude Puel has confirmed Patrick Kluivert will not be at the club next season.
The 31-year-old Dutch forward joined the club last July in a bid to rebuild his career after unsuccessful spells at Newcastle United, Valencia and PSV Eindhoven.
However, he managed only 10 starts for the French side, scoring four goals.
While Puel confirmed that Kluivert was set to move on, he quick to point out that the decision for him to leave was down to sporting reasons.
"If you look at on the pitch matters, he hasn't had as many games as he would have liked and we could have some reservations about that," Puel told French sport daily L'Equipe.
"However, overall I'm very satisfied with what he brought to the group in training and in the dressing room.
"Compared to the player we'd heard about - the ego this kind of player could have - he was always very positive for the group.
"All season he has set an example with his relationships within the club and his behaviour.
"His team-mates have seen that he is a great player and a great professional.
"I'm very satisfied with him. I'll judge him on what he has brought to the club in a global sense."
Polish champions Wisla Krakow are reportedly set to make a bid for the player, who enjoyed stints at Ajax, AC Milan and Barcelona earlier in his career. when he was at Newcastle he lost his speed but he still looked dangerous in fron of goal. I would have liked to have seen him stay at Newcastle for an extra year
he should be pinchhitter at Ajax. the club where he brought the magic and the Champions League.. He is still a big hero here. Myself im personally not the biggest of fans. But have tons of respect for the guy. I hope he will finally settle somewhere..

Did if feel like a slap in the face to Ajax fans when he joined PSV Eindhoven or was there not much fuss when it happened ?

good point, it was a slap in the face. But not Kluiverts fault. it was the Ajax board that didnt sign him whilst Kluivert was flirting with Ajax all the time.
Wonder if Sir Bobby had stayed what would have happened
He seemed Lethal upfront alongside Bellamy at the time and he had lost his pace but was still alot quicker than Shearer at the time.
Think if Bobby had stayed he'd probably still be at Newcastle now and a strikeforece of Martins, Owen and Kluivert seems very interesting
Of course Souness in all his might didnt deem him good enough, damn idiot
bit weird lille are letting him go. 4 goals in 10 is a fuck of a lot better then most strikers manage, prob woudve had a better average if theyd given him the chance. also think we shudve given him a longer chance. think the same bout luque tho
