Songs for a funeral
If you had 3 songs for your funeral
1 for people to come into
1 for burial/cremation
and one for people to leave to what would you choose?
Lobo 29 Aug 2005, 09:15
Good question
the three I would have would be

1)"Mr Jones" by Counting Crowes
2)"Time Of Your Life" by Green Day
3)"The theme from The Great Escape" - (ive always loved that theme)

Drognan's Top 10 Funeral Songs

1) Black Lace - Agadoodoo, one to keep the elder generation happy
2) The Theme to countdown, just as the coffin is going down to the cremation chamber:-
Dooo do dee do dooo, Dooo do dee do dooo, dedoo dedoo diddle dummmmmmm, well, thats what they did to richard whiteley apparently..

3) Radiohead - Creep
4) One of the themes out of the wizard of oz i think - everyone is singing "ding dong the witch is dead, the witch is dead, the witch is dead",... etc
5) If its yer aunt delila... everyone can sing "bye bye byeeeeeeeee .. delila"
6) Ok, the funerals in a church, time to play Marylin Manson Fight Song - I'm not a slave to a God who doesn't exist..
7) If they died in a house fire, which can happen, howabout The Prodigy - Firestarter, as requested by Some random dodgy fuck who nobody knows
8) More radiohead
9) Fuck it, lets just put radiohead Kid A and OK Computer and the Bends on and be done with it
10) oh and Pablo Honey Also

Interestingly enough, a website I found listed these following songs as top 10 funeral songs:-

1. Goodbye My Lover - James Blunt
2. Angels - Robbie Williams
3. I’ve Had the Time of My Life - Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley
4. Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler
5. Pie Jesu - Requiem
6. Candle in the Wind - Elton John
7. With or Without You - U2
8. Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
9. Every Breath You Take - The Police
10. Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

Well, thats if you want everyone to commit suicide, I mean, James Blunt, fuck me, play that and everyone will kill themselves.. torture..

"but why dad, why james blunt..."? everyone in background slitting their wrists on the opening verse

"cos son, it was your mothers favourite song, now quick son, here's a knife, do yourself a favour before it gets the fucking chorus"

What they probably didn't realise, the mother killed herself after listening to james blunt anyway..

Lethal stuff James Blunt, they should put a health warning on this stuff

The other tracks are alright, the U2 song is about selling your soul to the devil btw

Comfortably numb would be a good one or sorry seems to be the hardest word
davey 04 May 2007, 09:01
I would like Dust in the wind to be played at mine
Lee1976 04 May 2007, 10:08
While my guitar gently weeps
Love changes everything
You'll be in my heart

1 for people to come into
1 for burial/cremation
and one for people to leave to what would you choose?

1 : Brill Frisell - Over the rainbow + I see stars are blue.

2: The Darkness - One way ticket to hell and back (Just for the fact that, humor is a big part of me and my friends would see the funny in this)

3: Kim Larsen - Om lidt blir her stille (A danish song, which was used in a circus once, where he sang "In a moment it all will be quiet, in a moment it's all gone, did you see wanted you wanted, did you hear, my melody".

Really slow and popular song really.
